1. The Water-Vinegar Mix Test

The Water-vinegar mix test procedure of determining honey purity is:

– Add a tablespoon of honey, 2-3 drops of vinegar and some water in a glass. Mix well

– Observe for about 2 to 3 minutes

– If the mixture becomes foamy, it is definitely adulterated

2. The Thumb Test

Here’s the procedure to do a thumb test to test pure honey:

– Put a small drop of the honey on your thumb

– Check to see if it spills or spreads around

– If it does not stick to your thumb, it is impure

– Pure honey will stick to your thumb

3. The Water Test

You can also test honey using a glass of water:

– Add a tablespoon of honey to the glass filled with water.

– Adulterated honey will dissolve in water

– Pure honey has a dense texture and will settle right at the bottom of the glass

4. The Flame Test

Here’s how to do the flame test:

– Take a dry matchstick and dip its tip right into the honey

– Strike the matchstick against the matchbox

– If the matchstick will light with ease, honey is pure

– If the matchbox will not light, it may contain some impurities or honey is adulterated

5. Blotting Paper Test

A test to see honey is impure with a help of blotting paper:

– Take a blotting paper and drop a few drops of honey on the paper

– If it will leave a wet mark on paper, it is adulterated

– Pure honey will not leave any mark on the paper
